Privacy & Safety Statement – Social Patients

Social Patients values privacy, respect, and safety. We make every reasonable effort to create a supportive and confidential environment, but it’s important to understand the limits of privacy in online spaces.

1. Financial & Personal Information

All payments, billing details, and sensitive personal information are handled and stored by third-party platforms, such as Pay Pal and Stripe and their payment processors. Social Patients does not collect, store, or have access to your financial information.

2. Group Privacy & Confidentiality

We actively encourage respectful, private, and non-recorded participation during group sessions.  However, absolute privacy cannot be guaranteed in any online environment. Participants should assume that anything shared in a group setting could potentially be overheard, remembered, or repeated by others.  “If you wouldn’t say it in public, don’t say it in group.”

3. What We Do to Protect Privacy

We set clear group norms around respect, consent, and boundaries. We discourage recording, screenshots, or sharing of group discussions. We intervene if privacy-violating behaviour is reported or observed, and we remove participants who repeatedly disregard group safety or boundaries.

4. Participant Responsibility

By joining Social Patients events, you acknowledge that you are responsible for what you choose to share, that you will respect the privacy of others, and that you understand the inherent risks of online group interaction.

5. Our Commitment

Social Patients is a peer-support and social connection space, not therapy, medical care, or crisis services. Our goal is to foster connection, reduce isolation, and create safer social spaces — while being honest about the realities of the online climate.
